 Surfing changed my life.

In February 2022, when I was 30, I signed up for 8 surf lessons at Santa Monica beach. I did it to impress the guy I was in a situationship with—he was a surfer, and I thought if I became a surfer, he’d finally ask me to be his girlfriend. That didn’t happen, and we broke up.

A few months later, I met another surfer, and this time he asked me to be his girlfriend. We surfed together every Sunday for 6 months, but I was terrible at it. I mostly sat on my board, watching him catch waves. When we broke up, I stopped surfing altogether because it felt like ‘our’ thing.

A year later, still heartbroken and burnt out from work, I went to Hawaii by myself. Being in Waikiki, I felt inspired to get back on a surfboard. Slowly, I re-learned to surf—this time, for myself.

Surfing reminds me it’s never too late to learn something new, and that I’m stronger than I realize, both emotionally and physically. Through surfing, the ocean teaches us passion and humility. Humans are made to spend time in nature; the ocean is medicine for our body, heart, and soul. I’m deeply grateful for surfing, as it showed me that the most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves first.

I started this brand because I wanted jewelry that captured this essence of surfing. When I couldn’t find it, I created Surfers Jewelry. My hope is that when you wear our pieces, you’re reminded of what surfing, the ocean, and self-love means to you, too—just like it does for me.
